If You Could

A Soul's Walk

Would you hang me from the street pole
Or burn me at a stake?
Would you drown me in the ocean
Or thrust a blade my life to take?

Would you push me off a tower
Or off a moving train?
Would you have me marry madame
Or on the block the same?

The seasons turn and come and go
And we forget that justice costs
And the biggest debt of all to take
Is our forgiveness in the loss.
